- Purpose of This Disclaimer
The Get Doctor Second Opinion (GDSO) service is designed to facilitate access to an additional medical opinion from qualified medical specialists and healthcare institutions.
This Medical Disclaimer explains the nature and limitations of the GDSO service and clarifies the distinction between:
● the GDSO platform and coordination services; and
● the independent medical assessment provided by the relevant Specialist or Medical Institution.
GDSO is not a medical provider and does not itself diagnose, treat or manage medical conditions.
This Disclaimer applies exclusively to the GDSO Second Opinion Service.
Any medical treatment, hospital admission, surgery, medication, rehabilitation or other healthcare service obtained independently of GDSO is outside the scope of this Disclaimer.
- GDSO Is a Medical Second-Opinion Platform
GDSO provides a structured platform through which patients can obtain an additional professional medical perspective on an existing or suspected medical condition.
Depending on the service selected, GDSO may facilitate:
● collection of relevant medical information;
● organisation of medical documentation;
● identification of an appropriate medical Specialist;
● secure transmission of medical information;
● coordination of communication;
● remote consultation, where included;
● specialist review of medical records; and
● delivery of a written second-opinion report.
GDSO itself does not perform the medical assessment.
The medical opinion is provided by the relevant qualified Specialist or Medical Institution.
- Independent Medical Professionals
Medical opinions facilitated through GDSO are based on the independent professional judgment of the Specialist or Medical Institution reviewing the case.
The Specialist or Medical Institution is responsible for:
● reviewing the information provided;
● exercising independent clinical judgment;
● identifying relevant medical considerations;
● formulating the medical opinion; and
● making any recommendations contained in that opinion.
GDSO does not direct, modify or guarantee the clinical conclusions of an independent Specialist.
The existence of a relationship between GDSO and a Specialist or Medical Institution does not mean that GDSO controls or determines the Specialist’s medical judgment.
- A Second Opinion Is Not a Guarantee
A second opinion provides an additional medical perspective.
It does not guarantee that:
● an existing diagnosis will be confirmed;
● an existing diagnosis will be changed;
● a different diagnosis will be identified;
● a particular treatment will be recommended;
● a particular treatment will be successful;
● a particular medical outcome will be achieved.
Different qualified medical professionals may reasonably reach different clinical conclusions based on the information available to them.
The purpose of a second opinion is to provide additional professional information that may assist the Patient and their treating healthcare professionals in making informed medical decisions.
- The Importance of Complete and Accurate Information
The quality and usefulness of a medical second opinion depend significantly on the quality and completeness of the information available to the reviewing Specialist.
The Patient is therefore responsible for providing, to the best of their knowledge:
● accurate medical information;
● relevant medical history;
● current diagnoses or suspected diagnoses;
● relevant medical reports;
● diagnostic imaging;
● laboratory results;
● pathology;
● treatment history; and
● other information reasonably relevant to the medical case.
If important information is missing, incomplete, outdated or inaccurate, the Specialist may be unable to provide a complete assessment.
The Specialist may identify limitations in the opinion or request additional documentation.
- Medical Information Is Time-Sensitive
Medical information can change over time.
A second opinion reflects the information available to the Specialist at the time the case is reviewed.
Changes in:
● symptoms;
● diagnosis;
● laboratory findings;
● imaging;
● treatment;
● medication;
● clinical condition;
may affect the relevance of a previous second opinion.
A second-opinion report should therefore not automatically be interpreted as a current medical assessment if the Patient’s medical condition has subsequently changed.
Where there has been a significant change in the Patient’s condition, the Patient should seek appropriate medical assessment.
- No Emergency or Urgent Medical Care
GDSO is not an emergency medical service.
The Second Opinion Service is not intended for situations requiring immediate medical attention.
If you experience:
● severe or rapidly worsening symptoms;
● a suspected life-threatening condition;
● acute injury;
● severe breathing difficulties;
● loss of consciousness;
● sudden neurological symptoms;
● severe chest pain; or
● another situation that may require urgent medical attention,
you should seek immediate medical assistance through the appropriate emergency medical service or healthcare provider.
You should not wait for a GDSO second opinion where urgent medical assessment is required.
- A Second Opinion Does Not Replace Your Treating Physician
The GDSO Second Opinion Service does not replace the relationship between the Patient and their treating physician or healthcare team.
A second opinion should be considered together with:
● the Patient’s existing medical history;
● current clinical findings;
● diagnostic information;
● the treating physician’s assessment;
● other relevant professional medical advice.
The Patient should discuss the second opinion with their treating physician or another appropriately qualified healthcare professional before making significant medical decisions, where appropriate.
- No Treatment Is Provided by GDSO
GDSO does not provide medical treatment.
The GDSO Second Opinion Service does not include, unless expressly stated otherwise in a separate agreement:
● surgery;
● hospital admission;
● medication;
● chemotherapy;
● radiotherapy;
● rehabilitation;
● diagnostic procedures;
● physical treatment;
● medical procedures;
● emergency care; or
● other clinical treatment.
GDSO’s role is limited to facilitating access to the requested second-opinion service.
Any subsequent healthcare services are governed by the arrangements made directly with the relevant healthcare provider and are outside the scope of GDSO.
- Recommendations Contained in a Second Opinion
A Specialist may recommend:
● additional diagnostic testing;
● further specialist consultation;
● changes in treatment;
● continuation of an existing treatment;
● alternative treatment options;
● additional monitoring;
● other medical steps.
Such recommendations represent the professional opinion of the relevant Specialist.
They should not be interpreted as instructions issued by GDSO.
The Patient should discuss any proposed changes to diagnosis or treatment with their treating healthcare professional before taking action, particularly where the decision may carry significant medical consequences.
- No Guarantee of Diagnosis or Treatment Outcome
Neither GDSO nor a Specialist can guarantee a particular medical result.
Medical diagnosis and treatment involve uncertainty and depend on factors that may include:
● the individual Patient’s condition;
● disease progression;
● available medical information;
● response to treatment;
● underlying health factors;
● timing;
● medical technology;
● clinical circumstances.
Accordingly, GDSO makes no representation or guarantee regarding the outcome of any medical decision made following a second opinion.
- Scope of the Medical Review
The scope of a second opinion depends on the service requested and the information available.
A Specialist may limit their assessment where:
● medical documentation is incomplete;
● diagnostic images are unavailable or unsuitable;
● additional testing is required;
● the clinical question falls outside the Specialist’s expertise;
● the available information does not permit a reliable conclusion.
Where appropriate, the Specialist may state such limitations in the second-opinion report.
A second opinion should therefore not be interpreted as an exhaustive independent medical examination unless the relevant Specialist expressly states otherwise.
- Remote Medical Consultations
Where a remote consultation forms part of the GDSO service, the consultation is conducted using appropriate communication technology.
A remote consultation has inherent limitations compared with an in-person clinical examination.
Depending on the nature of the medical condition, a Specialist may not be able to:
● perform a physical examination;
● directly observe all clinical signs;
● obtain immediate diagnostic testing;
● assess certain conditions that require physical examination.
The Specialist will determine the extent to which a remote consultation is clinically appropriate.
Where an in-person examination or further diagnostic assessment is required, the Specialist may recommend that the Patient seek appropriate local medical care.
- Medical Images and Digital Records
Medical images and records submitted electronically may be affected by:
● image quality;
● file format;
● compression;
● incomplete sequences;
● missing information;
● technical limitations.
The Specialist will assess the information available to them and may identify limitations where the available digital material is insufficient.
GDSO does not independently verify the clinical accuracy or completeness of medical records submitted by the Patient or third parties.
- International Medical Expertise
GDSO may facilitate access to medical Specialists and healthcare institutions located in different countries.
Medical practice, professional standards, healthcare systems and treatment protocols may differ between jurisdictions.
A second opinion obtained through GDSO may therefore reflect the professional perspective and applicable medical standards of the Specialist or Medical Institution providing it.
Where relevant, Patients should discuss how recommendations apply to their local healthcare system and circumstances with their treating healthcare professional.
- No Medical Relationship With GDSO
The use of the GDSO website or coordination service does not, by itself, establish a physician-patient relationship between the Patient and NEXTPEAK SRLS or GDSO.
Any professional medical relationship that arises in connection with a medical consultation or second opinion is between the Patient and the relevant Specialist or Medical Institution, subject to the arrangements applicable to that professional service.
GDSO’s role is administrative, technological and coordinative.
- Patient Responsibility
The Patient remains responsible for their medical decisions.
The Patient should:
● provide accurate information;
● disclose relevant medical history;
● provide relevant medical documentation;
● inform their healthcare professionals of relevant second-opinion findings;
● seek appropriate medical care when necessary;
● follow appropriate medical advice;
● obtain urgent care where required.
GDSO does not make medical decisions on behalf of Patients.
- Limitation of the Disclaimer
This Medical Disclaimer does not exclude or limit any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable law.
Nothing in this Disclaimer is intended to remove or restrict mandatory rights of Patients or consumers.
Where applicable law provides protections that cannot be contractually excluded, those protections remain fully applicable.
- Relationship With the Terms & Conditions
This Medical Disclaimer should be read together with the:

The Terms & Conditions govern the contractual relationship concerning the GDSO Second Opinion Service.
This Medical Disclaimer specifically addresses the medical nature, scope and limitations of the service.
In the event of an inconsistency, mandatory applicable law will prevail.
- Relationship With the Privacy Policy
The processing of personal and health information in connection with the GDSO service is governed by the:
GDSO Privacy Policy
The Privacy Policy explains how NEXTPEAK SRLS processes personal data, including health information, and how such information may be shared with Specialists and participating Medical Institutions.
Where required, separate consent or authorisation concerning the processing and transfer of health information will be obtained.
- Changes to This Medical Disclaimer
GDSO may update this Medical Disclaimer from time to time to reflect:
● changes in the GDSO service;
● changes in medical-service arrangements;
● changes in applicable law;
● changes in the specialist network;
● changes in technology or service delivery.
The current version will be published on the GDSO website with the applicable “Last updated” date.
